Caffeine for Mac is a great utility for preventing the computer from starting its screensaver, going to sleep, or automatically dimming its screen after a period of inactivity. It can also provide sinus relief.Download Now. The oil may reduce the chances of daytime sleepiness. As another caffeine alternative to coffee, peppermint can help boost your energy in many ways: It has anti-inflammatory properties that alleviate many types of pain such as stomach cramps, migraines, and headaches. It is true that 5.0.2 does not disconnect immediately on sleep, but it appears to intentionally disconnect after the iPad has been in sleep mode for a relatively short time, about 5 minutes in my case, even sending a message to the Notification Center that the session was disconnected. I saw that one of the listed updates for 5.0.2 was a fix for the 'immediate disconnect on sleep issue' so gave it a spin. Reverted to the prior 4.x version and had no problems. When version 5 permits persistent session connections while in sleep mode, I'll consider giving it a try again. My particular need is to keep the session active for the full workday, frequently sleeping the device to conserve battery, as actual interaction with the remote desktop is intermittent. The 4.x version does this by allowing me to sleep the device without disconnecting, and will keep the session active indefinitely, so I've reverted to the 4.x version again. 5.0.2 appears to maintain the session connection for extended periods while on and idle, but battery life is too short when the iPad is kept 'awake' the whole time. Not sure what is to be gained by Citrix designing the 'disconnect after x minutes of sleep' as default (and unchangeable) behavior. Not sure what the folks on the 'back end' (the environment host) would need to do, but using version 4 is the simpler solution. Version 5 is making a decision by design to disconnect after a period of sleep which is relatively short, only a matter of a few minutes. I intentionally put it to sleep regularly to preserve battery.Version 4 keeps the session active indefinitely while in sleep mode without anything having to be done 'on the back end'. Caffeine is (& has always been) enabled, but that just keeps the iPad from automatically going into sleep mode after being idle a period of time.
But, I am one of those back-end guys and have been doing some tests based on what you just wrote. Maintaining the session connection during sleep in Version 4 (its default behavior) has negligible effect on battery life, BTW.Sorry I am new to iPads and the Citrix Receiver for iPads. As it is, that's not possible with version 5, but should be. Caffiene Software Works OnOnce I saw on the server console that the session was disconnected I woke my iPad up the application was gone, but, if I launched it again from my iPad I was reconnected to my disconnected session. The software works on all Windows systems. There are timeouts for this, and what surprised me is how long it actually took for the Server to realize my iPad went to sleep. Being disconnected from the client side is not always the same thing as being disconnected from the Server side.It can take a while for the Server to realize a Client has disconnected. There is something from a Citrix admin perspective that is worth re-stating at this point though. I did find that when my iPad went to sleep the session behaved as I would have expected a PC for example to behave, except it seemed to take longer than I expected. It was almost exactly 11 minutes, which is way longer than I expected to see and of course a strange number. I had to turn it on (if I wanted to - battery life is precious so I won't be doing that normally either).
